Simsbury Sustainability Committee

Promoting Community Awareness of Energy Efficiency Programs

The Simsbury Sustainability Committee is an appointed board/commission of the Town of Simsbury and Simsbury Public Schools, supported by the Department of Public Works and the Town Manager’s Office. One of the Committee’s goals is to promote community awareness of energy efficiency programs available to support homes and businesses.

The Committee has teamed up with New England Smart Energy (NESE) to connect residents to the Home Energy Solutions℠ program, supported by the sponsors of Energize Connecticut℠. The Committee aims to educate residents on the benefits of Home Energy Solutions and connect eligible households with valuable energy-saving services.

Already, over one-third of Simsbury households have used the Home Energy Solutions program to improve their energy efficiency and save money. Even if you have already had an assessment, you can get a new assessment every 6 years! We are excited to partner with New England Smart Energy to reach our goal of one hundred completed assessments by May, 2027.

NESE is a utility-authorized contractor in Energize CT’s Home Energy Solutions program. Simsbury homeowners and renters may use NESE as a contractor or choose from one of the many other utility-authorized contractors on the Energize CT website.

NESE works with you to complete home energy assessments and follow-up air sealing and insulation services that help Simsbury residents lower energy usage, save money, and improve home comfort and safety.

During your assessment, a NESE home energy specialist will evaluate your home’s energy performance and offer personalized, energy-saving recommendations. They will also conduct a blower door test to identify air leaks, along with a whole-home health and safety check. The visit concludes with a summary of findings and next steps, all discussed right at your kitchen table.

This service is offered at no cost to income-eligible residents and is available to all other residents for a small $40 co-pay. The average value of the products and services received through Home Energy Solutions is $850, and the average household saves $75-100 per year after the assessment, with even more savings if additional weatherization recommendations are completed!

Ready to get started? Just fill out the form below to sign up for a Home Energy Solutions assessment and service directly with NESE (or explore other utility-authorized contractors through Energize CT’s website).

Thank you for helping make the Town of Simsbury cleaner and more sustainable!
