The Home Energy Solutions assessment and service are available to Connecticut residents for a small copay of just $40, and income-eligible residents can receive these benefits at no cost. It’s a small investment that leads to huge savings, with the average household receiving $1,000 in services and saving $75-100 on energy bills annually!

What to Expect from Home Energy Solutions
Home Energy Solutions is broken into two easy visits:
Home Energy Assessment
At your Home Energy Solutions assessment, one of our Building Performance Institute (BPI)-certified energy-efficiency experts will complete a comprehensive home energy audit, including:
- Introduction – Your assessment starts with an initial conversation during which we will explain the process and answer any questions you have before we begin testing.
- Health & Safety Test – We perform a safety test on all combustion appliances, look for hazardous materials like mold and asbestos, check for carbon monoxide leaks, and more.
- Blower Door Test – A certified technician will perform a blower door test to locate air leaks and locate indoor drafts.
- Water-Saving Measures – We may install water-saving devices, including high-efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators.
- Kitchen Table Wrap-Up – At the end of the assessment, we’ll sit down with you to review your home’s energy performance, recommended next steps, and potential savings. We’ll also discuss additional energy-saving measures you can implement, like Aeroseal, insulation, windows, and HVAC, and the incentive and financing options available to help you make those upgrades.
Service Visit
After your assessment is completed, we’ll schedule your Home Energy Solutions service visit, which includes more Energize CT benefits:
- Duct Testing – If you have forced-air heating or central air conditioning, we’ll test your ductwork to assess airflow and locate leaks.
- Air Sealing – We’ll seal all critical air leaks to reduce energy loss and eliminate drafts.
- Duct Sealing – If necessary, we’ll seal significant leaks in your ductwork.
- Blower Door Test – A certified technician will perform a blower door test to confirm air leaks have been sealed.
- Health & Safety Test – We perform a safety test on all combustion appliances, check for carbon monoxide leaks, and more.
On top of everything else, you’ll receive a Department of Energy (DOE) Home Energy Score, which explains how much energy your home uses compared to similar houses. This can help guide your home improvement decisions.
