If your nonprofit organization is looking for a simple and effective way to raise funds while doing good, we want to partner with you! We can help you fundraise in a way that benefits your organization and your community with our Smart Energy Fundraising program.
Smart Energy Fundraising Program: How It Works
Our Smart Energy Fundraising Program helps your community members make energy-efficient home upgrades that reduce carbon emissions and save homeowners money on their energy bills. Here’s how it works:
- Households in your community participate in the Energize Connecticut℠ Home Energy Solutions℠ program, which starts with a home energy assessment.
- We perform the assessment and provide on-the-spot upgrades, like air sealing and duct sealing. For a $75 co-pay, homeowners can receive about $850 in services and save up to $180 on their annual energy bills! Income-eligible homeowners can receive a no-cost assessment.
- We’ll make a $25 donation to your organization for every household that completes a Home Energy Solutions assessment.
Energize Connecticut helps you save money and use clean energy. It is an initiative of the Energy Efficiency Fund, the Connecticut Green Bank, the State, and your local electric and gas utilities, with funding from a charge on customer energy bills. New England Smart Energy Group is proud to be an authorized contractor of Energize CT.

What To Expect During Your Home Energy Assessment
New England Smart Energy Group is a local home energy expert that’s been helping Connecticut homeowners save energy and money since 2009. We provide comprehensive home energy assessments that are completed by Building Performance Institute (BPI)-certified energy efficiency experts and go beyond what’s included in a conventional energy audit.
- Introduction – Your assessment starts with an initial conversation during which we will explain the process in detail and answer any questions you have before we begin testing.
- Health & Safety Test – We perform a safety test on all combustion appliances, look for hazardous materials like mold and asbestos, check for carbon monoxide leads, and more.
- Blower Door Test – A certified technician will perform a blower door test to locate air leaks and find out where indoor drafts are coming from.
- Duct Testing – If you have forced-air heating or central air conditioning, we’ll test your ductwork to assess airflow and locate leaks.
- Air Sealing – We’ll seal all critical air leaks to reduce energy loss and eliminate drafts.
- Duct Sealing – If necessary, we’ll seal significant leaks in your ductwork.
- Water-Saving Measures – We may install water-saving devices, including low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators.
- Kitchen Table Wrap Up – At the end of the assessment, we’ll sit down with you to review the work we did and your expected savings. We’ll also discuss deeper energy-saving measures you can implement to save even more energy and money, and the rebate and incentive options available to help you make these upgrades.
