Insulating and air sealing your attic is one of the best ways to save money on your energy expenses.
But how much does it cost to get those savings?
There’s no easy answer. Costs vary based on factors like attic size and the type of insulation you choose.
The good news? If you live in Connecticut, you can insulate your attic for little to no cost thanks to Energize Connecticut℠ rebates.
New England Smart Energy Group can help you take advantage of these savings! Keep reading to learn more about attic insulation costs, rebates, and expected savings.
What Affects the Cost of Attic Insulation?
Attic insulation costs can vary significantly from one house to another. Here are the biggest factors that impact costs:
- House Size & Attic Square Footage
Larger attics naturally require more insulation material and labor, increasing costs.
- Type of Insulation Material
Different insulation materials come with different price tags.
- Existing Insulation
If your attic already has some insulation, the cost may be lower, depending on whether it can be topped off. If your existing insulation is wet, moldy, or compressed, it will need to be removed and replaced, which adds to the cost.
- Safety Barriers
Problems like mold, asbestos, and knob-and-tube wiring have to be taken care of before you can install new attic insulation. If you live in New Haven, you may be eligible for no-cost barrier removal thanks to a city grant. Contact us to find out if you qualify.
- Rebates & Incentives
Rebates and incentives can bring your attic insulation costs down significantly. If you meet income requirements, you may even qualify for a no-cost insulation upgrade.
