Helping North Haven Residents Complete Energy Assessments
North Haven’s Clean Energy Task Force was formed in 2007 in response to the North Haven Board of Selectmen’s decision to purchase 20% of its electricity for public facilities from clean renewable energy sources by 2010. In the almost 20 years of its existence, the Task Force has lead 5 successful Home Energy SolutionsSM (HES) and Home Energy Solutions – Income EligibleSM (HES-IE) initiatives, resulting in about 40% of North Haven residents having received a HES or HESIE assessment. The state average is only 30%.
The Clean Energy Task Force has teamed up with New England Smart Energy (NESE) to begin a new initiative to connect even more residents to the HES and HES-IE programs, both of which are supported by the sponsors of Energize Connecticut℠. The Clean Energy Task Force and NESE aim to educate residents on the benefits of home energy assessments and connect households with valuable energy-saving services.
This newest campaign aims to help 100 North Haven residents complete energy assessments by March 2027.
As a utility-authorized contractor, and the Clean Energy Task Force’s trusted partner on this initiative, NESE provides home energy assessments as well as follow-up air sealing and insulation services that help North Haven residents lower energy usage, save money, and improve home comfort and safety.
During your assessment, NESE will evaluate your home’s energy performance and offer personalized energy-saving recommendations. They will also conduct a blower door test to identify air leaks, along with a whole-home health and safety check. The visit concludes with a summary of findings and next steps, all discussed right at your kitchen table.
This service is offered at no cost to income-eligible residents and is available to all other residents for only $40. The average value of the products and services received from HES is $1,000, and the average household saves $75-100 per year after the assessment, with even more savings if additional weatherization recommendations are completed!
