What Can You Do?

Participate in the Westport Home Energy Challenge. This unique Westport-based program is designed to improve home energy efficiency by 20% or more in at least 1,000 Westport homes. It is a joint effort of the Town Of Westport, Neighbor-to-Neighbor Energy Challenge and others who are passionate about energy conservation.

What Is It?

The Westport Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge uses a community approach to turn our energy problem around. Westport is one of fourteen towns in the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program funded by the Department of Energy. This program is designed to engage you and your neighbors to work together to reduce energy waste, save money, and create cleaner, more livable communities.

How Does It Work?

To facilitate this process WHEC will provide you with a personal Energy Advisor. Your EA will assist you in understanding, prioritizing and financing your home energy assessment recommendations. The first step is to sign up for a Home Energy Solutions (HES) visit. During your HES visit, BPI certified technicians (accompanied by your EA) will conduct a series of tests in your home to identify problem areas and solutions. How Much Does It Cost?

Your energy assessment is valued at over $1,000 but by participating through WHEC you will pay just $75! From your initial visit, you will also save 7-11% on your energy bill and enjoy increased home comfort.

Home Energy Solutions-Income Eligible

Home Energy Solutions-Income Eligible (HES-IE) is an energy conservation service for those whose household income is at or below 60% of the state median income.

Participants are eligible for the standard Home Energy Solutions, Neighbor to Neighbor services at no cost and may also qualify for these additional services: attic and sidewall insulation, heating system check up and repairs and refrigerator replacements. In most cases there is no additional charge for additional services. Renter occupied dwelling units may require a landlord contribution towards the cost of additional services.
