The goal of this Smart Energy Fundraising program is to enable Wakeman Town Farm; to raise money in a way that benefits both the donor and the Farm. This we feel provides an ideal balance, a ‘win-win’, so to speak and still keeping within the ‘Spirit of Giving’.
Normally, New England Smart Energy Group charges a $75 co-pay, for which homeowners typically receive up to $700+ in products and services paid for by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF). Our fund raising program will pay $25 to Wakeman Town Farm for every home tested as a result of this ‘Energy’ fund raising promotion.
Westport Green Village Initiative (“GVI”) is a grass roots non-profit working to help Westport become a model of what is possible. GVI has leased the historic Wakeman Farm property (134 Cross Highway, Westport, CT) from the Town of Westport to create a true ”Town Farm.” The Wakeman Town Farm & Sustainability Center will be an organic demonstration homestead and farm open to the public.
The goal is to become a model facility that will educate/inspire the community with local healthy food production, responsible land stewardship, sustainable practices and community/service orientation. Activities will include growing fruits and vegetables, demonstrating/teaching best practices for food generation and preservation, and providing a farm stand and CSA pickup location.
